STUDENT PROGRAMS
PRIMARY SPANISH Ages 5 years to 11 years. Offered at Epiphany Education Center on Saturday from 09:00 to 10.30 am Primary students are taught vocabulary and phrases in a fun filled environment. They sing songs and play games in Spanish and learn about the Spanish culture through these activities.
JUNIOR SPANISH/FRENCH Ages 12 years to 15 years Offered at Epiphany Education Center on Tuesday Monday from 4.15 to 6.15 pm
Students participating in this program will take a placement test and will be assigned to a class according to their language skill level. The course is designed to prepare Bahamian students for the BJC exams which will be reintroduced in the next three years. We follow the Spanish and French curricula for the Bahamas. However emphasis is placed on oral skills because we know that our students can benefit from communicating in the target language in a small class setting.
SENIOR HIGH SPANISH/FRENCH Ages 14 years and over Offered at Epiphany Education Center on Tuesday from 4.15 to 6.15 pm Students participating in this program will take a placement test and will be assigned to a class according to their language skill level. The course is designed to prepare them for the Spanish/French BGCSE examinations as well as international examinations such as the SAT II Spanish/French, Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish /French.
Ages 14 years and over Offered at Epiphany Anglican Center on Monday from 4:15 to 6:15. The course is designed to prepare learners for B.G.C.S.E. English Language and literature course work.
ADULT PROGRAMS
Our adult programs are flexible programs with a variety of options. We offer on or off site private tutoring and group classes. For the on site and group classes students will take a placement test and will be assigned according to their level of performance. Courses offered are Spanish, French and French Creole. Emphasis is placed on conversation and reading comprehension. For our adult program we follow our curriculum which has been created to suit the need of the individual. We offer specialized programs for persons of various career group settings such as: Business, Banking, Hotel & tourism
1. BUSINESS/BANKING Analytical skills improve when studying a foreign language and with business skills plus a foreign language skill makes an employee more valuable in the job market. The emphasis is placed on conversation, writing and comprehending business correspondence letters. We can prepare the students, if they desire, for the Spanish/French Pitman examinations.
2. HOTEL/TOURISM When one can communicate effectively in a second language to our tourists it creates a more harmonious environment and mutual respect for the way of life of others. Our program for persons in the hotel industry and tourism emphasizes communicating effectively in the language as well as understanding and relating to the customs and beliefs of Hispanic and Francophone countries.
STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM
Acquiring a foreign language involves more than memorizing vocabulary words, and grammar rules, it is simply learning a skill.
You must understand the ideas and concepts and utilize them through speaking, listening, writing, and reading in other words you must practice.
CARFERID has organized language immersion programs in a number of countries that allows the individual to experience a cultural education while receiving language instructions in a native environment. Studying a language in a country where it is spoken intensifies the learning process, making it easier, faster and more enjoyable and creates a wonderful experience in making friends from other parts of the world.
This program is available to students and adults of all skill levels and we offer language immersion programs with some of the finest international language schools. The programs allow students to immerse themselves in the language and culture while living with host families. We can arrange programs from one week to one year in length of study beginning any time during the year. |
