CARFERID ACADEMY is the only foreign language school in the Bahamas that offers classroom instruction and combines it with a short (2-3 week) immersion program in a foreign country.

With the globalization of the Bahamas and increasing activities in tourism, banking, and business Bahamians are becoming aware of the importance of acquiring a second language.

CARFERID ACADEMY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES was created by three professionals with over 50 years of classroom experience in teaching a foreign language in public & private schools of the Bahamas.

OUR GOAL is to enable the Bahamian students, at all levels, individuals, and company employees to prepare themselves to meet the growing demands for foreign languages in the Bahamas. We specialise in English, French, Spanish & French Creole languages.

We offer a rich linguistic and cultural background to the teaching of languages. In the classroom our students are exposed to the language through our unique techniques, and to the culture through our personal experiences. Teaching languages is our passion and it enables us not only to share our knowledge but to bring together persons of diverse cultures communicating in a second language and sharing information about their countries.

Our experience has taught us that total immersion in the language is a great benefit, a memorable experience, and effective method of learning a

foreign language.

We have therefore designed our programs in three phases. While each phase is complete by itself where possible we encourage individuals to take advantage of each phase:

1. Initial instruction in the languages at CARFERID Academy in the Bahamas

2. Total immersion in the language with a home stay Program in a foreign country through our study abroad program

3. Informal classes / events with other students where only the foreign language is used.

With our experience in teaching in both the Bahamian public & private schools we are aware of the needs of all Bahamian students and their abilities to participate in the available programs. Therefore our tuition and immersion trips are considered for the average Bahamian student to have as much opportunities as possible. Adults also benefit from these reasonable prices.
